Silver Wire

Silver WireHow do I wire money and common money in precious metal clay jewelry making?

I'm new to making jewelry and I'm trying to create a necklace that is made primarily of 18 gauge dead soft wire money. I would add some other pieces such as hearts and tiny flowers and thought of the precious metal clay would be the easiest way to sculpt the sides. I will use a butane torch to solder the wire parts, but how do I join the pieces of clay once they are cooked? Will I need welding or flux?

I do not know the answer to this certainty, but after it is healed and cleaned, Precious Metal Clay (and Art Clay Silver) are pure silver. so I guess you could use whatever you normally use for this. There may be some differences but with different versions of PMC, etc., is it?

If you do not get a good answer here, you should check one of the sites for PMC (or Art Clay) and / or request their bodies.
You can find links to these sites on this page on my site:

After PMC is fired, it is 99.9% silver. Anything that can be made with the metal can be made on Fire CMP - sawing, filing, hammering and welding. You can also embed your silver thread in the clay and fire together. (If you use it will get over £ firescale and must be stripped after cooking.) PMC can be welded, but know that it is more porous than the sheet and sometimes will absorb the solder. And, yes, you need to use the stream.

If you are welding in pure silver pure silver, it will work fine. Just remember to be careful, because you use a torch - the PCM can melt and vaporize if you hold the torch on it for too long or too hot. (Be sure to have a breakdown for sure - money fumes are toxic)

Another option is to make the PMC with the jump ring money (or find others) embedded in the clay. I had good results with this, using the results of fine silver. I pulled my silver clay in the oven.

If you pull the PMC with the findings in her conclusions will clean the same spot as the clay needs (not really a problem)

You can also go to your ring / conclusions for the silver clay piece of clay more money, and attach it to your room with sliding. So when it comes out of the oven, attach your other thread as usual.

BIG NOTE:
I use clay to heat, because it has fewer withdrawal. If you use the original and PMC II, the withdrawal is greater and may affect the way he would fire the conclusion board

If the charms are small enough, just put a hole in the top of the charm, fire, and attach a jump ring. Weld the ring closed.

Hope this helps.
