Can you replace the golden thread of copper wire in an electromagnet home? I am doing a project for science fair and accidentally bought gold thread instead of wire. Does it still work?
Im sure you have is the brass wire, not gold!
Yes, its fine, it's not quite as good driver, but close enough in order
Wherever there is movement of electric charges, it is magnetism. son of the copper tubing are the most common type of electromagnet but copper is used only because it is cheap and highly conductive.
Gold work. It is conductive, but not as conductive as copper. Your engine to generate more heat than normal, but for a science fair project that will be acceptable.
Do not lose the gold! You can get adequate copper son out of almost everything. Take the electric motor in an old clock or RC car apart and you'll have all the copper wire prepared at low prices you need.
Uh, you did not notice the difference in price?? Yes it will work, as long as it is also isolated. Gold is a good conductor of electricity.
The difference is their electrical conductivity and the price ahem. Your budget should be extremely generous, or if you have more money than God!
